California State University, Chico
California State University, Chico is the heart of the Chico community and one of the most beautiful campuses in the California State University system. Founded in 1887, it's the second-oldest campus in the CSU network and home to more than 17,000 students. The tree-lined campus features Bidwell Park as a natural backdrop, and its venues — including Acker Gymnasium and the Chico State Farm — host everything from academic conferences to Wildcat athletic events.
Buses cannot park in university lots or the campus core, and bus loading and unloading should take place in safe areas. Your group can arrive together at a suitable loading area, while the bus rental is through Charterbusrentalchicoca.com and supplied by an independent local provider.
Bidwell Park
Bidwell Park (Chico, CA 95928) is one of the largest municipal parks in the United States, stretching nearly 3,700 acres along Big Chico Creek from downtown Chico into the Sierra Nevada foothills. The park is divided into Lower Bidwell Park, a flat, accessible area popular for picnics, disc golf, and the beloved swimming hole at One Mile Recreation Area, and Upper Bidwell Park, which offers rugged hiking trails, rocky swimming holes, and the iconic Salmon Hole. City park rules allow vehicle parking only in designated and marked parking areas.
Keep your group together on the ride to the park, then use a designated parking area for your visit.
Chico Creek Nature Center
Chico Creek Nature Center is a nonprofit environmental education facility nestled inside Lower Bidwell Park, offering hands-on exhibits, native wildlife displays, and outdoor educational programs for students and families. The center is a popular destination for Chico-area school field trips, offering curriculum-aligned programs covering local ecology, watershed health, and native species. Admission is affordable, and the center's staff are experienced at welcoming large school groups.
Charter buses and school buses can drop off groups at the East 8th Street entrance, with overflow parking available in the adjacent Bidwell Park lots. The center is open Tuesday through Sunday and recommends group reservations in advance for educational programs.
Senator Theatre
Senator Theatre is one of Chico's premier live entertainment venues, hosting a rotating lineup of concerts, comedy shows, and private events throughout the year. The historic venue has welcomed a wide range of national and regional touring acts and remains a beloved anchor of Chico's vibrant arts and entertainment scene. Sierra Nevada Brewing Company
Sierra Nevada Brewing Company (1075 E 20th St, Chico, CA 95928) is one of the most iconic craft breweries in the United States and a must-visit destination for any group traveling through Chico. Founded in 1980 by Ken Grossman, Sierra Nevada pioneered the American craft beer movement and today welcomes visitors to its Chico campus for brewery tours, tastings at the Taproom & Restaurant, and live music events on the outdoor stage. The brewery's campus is large and well-suited for group visits, with ample parking for oversized vehicles in the lots along East 20th Street.

The canyon is a premier destination for whitewater rafting, fishing, hiking, and scenic drives, and the historic Western Pacific Railroad route through the canyon is considered one of the most scenic train corridors in the country. Charter buses can navigate Highway 70 comfortably as far as Oroville, with the upper canyon requiring more careful route planning for larger vehicles.
A minibus or sprinter van is often the preferred choice for groups venturing deeper into the canyon's narrower roads. It's one of the North State's most rewarding group day trips.
Lake Oroville State Recreation Area
Lake Oroville State Recreation Area (917 Kelly Ridge Rd, Oroville, CA 95966) is one of the largest reservoirs in California and a premier outdoor recreation destination just 25 miles south of Chico via Highway 70. The lake and surrounding parklands offer swimming, boating, houseboating, camping, hiking, and mountain biking across more than 15,000 surface acres of water and 167 miles of shoreline.
